ITZY will release their new mini album "TUNNEL VISION" and its title track of the same name on November 10.
Since their official debut on February 12, 2019, ITZY has been loved by K-pop fans at home and abroad, for their solid skills in each album and performance. Garnering positive responses with their mini album, "Girls Will Be Girls," and Japanese official album, "Collector," released in June and October, respectively, they continued their activities as "K-pop Performance Queens."
Their new album, "TUNNEL VISION," has put forth "Dangerous Immersion" as its main keyword. The message, "Extreme immersion leads to 'excessive expansion' or 'complete shutdown.' Immersion at its climax isn't a state of calm concentration but a deluge of sensation, and through this, the ego undergoes dismantling and reconstruction," is incorporated throughout the album and the title track. The new track of the same name tells the story of moving toward light in the direction of one's choices and at one's own pace, amid the chaos, dangerously transcending between the two extremes of sensory overload and shutdown in TUNNEL VISION. Brass sounds blend with the hip-hop-based beat, adding weight to complete the majestic acoustics, and the layered vocals broaden the spatiality.
Yoon Seungrim of Rigend Film, the mastermind behind the music videos of leading K-pop artists, directed the music video. The music video visualizes the process of being deeply immersed and falling into something, where the shutdown senses go wild and eventually rupture, offering whole new visuals with intense performance. In addition, the choreography incorporates restrained movements and grooves inspired by Afro and hip-hop, along with several moves that evoke a tunnel, to enhance the audience's enthusiasm. Renowned choreographer Kirsten and K-pop choreography team La Chica, among others, who have created numerous masterpieces, participated in the choreography, creating synergy with ITZY.
The album consists of six songs in total: alongside the title track "TUNNEL VISION," "Focus" sings the moment in which they take a bold leap to a new goal, "DYT" conveys a confident manner of love, "Flicker" talks about the potential in uncertain circumstances, "Nocturne" emphasizes the realization to move on from the darkness, and "8-BIT HEART" depicts the process of finding the real me. The album is composed of an organic narrative in which ITZY finds their own light and identity, creating a dramatic musical flow.
In this album, leading songwriters such as Dem Jointz, a renowned American composer and producer who collaborated with famous overseas artists such as Eminem and Rihanna, and KENZIE, a leading K-pop producer, add their touch to complete the album with great finesse.
Returning with deeper narratives and music, ITZY is expected to awaken listeners' senses through "TUNNEL VISION."
