On November 30th, ITZY releases a new Mini Album, “CHESHIRE,” and the title track, “Cheshire.”
ITZY reached their highest ranks yet, with their 5th EP, “CHECKMATE,” and the title track, “SNEAKERS.” They reached 8th Place on “Billboard 200,” the US Billboard chart, and also 10th Place on “Artist 100,” where artists are ranked through a comprehensive analysis of their results. The album received 720,665 pre-orders and added another 472,394 initial Chodong (first-week) orders based on the real-time music chart website Hanteo Charts. On August 31st, the album surpassed the 1 million threshold on Circle Chart figures, reaching the million-seller list and proving the quintet’s clear “career-high.”
"Cheshire," the title track, delivers a message that encourages the listener to trust their feelings when faced with many mysterious and puzzling questions. ITZY's signature way of speech is emphasized in the lyrics, such as "There's no right or wrong," "Trust your gut, not your logic," and more. The track is in the dance-pop genre, with its stylish and catchy melody. The piano riff and a strong base sound add impact to the track. The music video, directed in a quiz show format, presents multiple possible interpretations, leaving deep impressions on the viewers. The point choreography, which expresses a constantly changing, mysterious, and puzzling face, also increases the fun of watching the performance.
The album includes a total of 4 tracks, including the title track “Cheshire,” with “Snowy,” “Freaky,” and “Boys Like You.” The last track was an English single, pre-released on October 21st. The album contains a track that samples Beethoven’s “Für Elise,” and also a track in the pop genre with punk elements. It presents a joy to the ears with diverse sound elements. The album’s lyrical direction of delivering an independent, honest, and proud message strengthens ITZY’s musical style and identity.
