ITZY is set to share “Boys Like You,” the new pre-release English single.
The group continues to accelerate its rise in global popularity by sharing its new English EP, “Boys Like You,” at 1 p.m. (midnight EST) on October 21.
“Boys Like You” is a track full of the group’s signature bold and daring energy. Its frank and straightforward lyrics send a warning to the person who let the singers down, emphasizing the point that they “won’t ever fall for boys like you again.” With its pop sound made even fuller with a touch of funk, the track boasts an intensely catchy melody as its hook. Didrik Thott and Sebastian Thott, the Swedish composers behind “Sneakers,” the quintet’s hit track that took over the K-pop scene this summer, participated in the song’s production.
As for the track’s music video, the trendy cinematography and the looks of ITZY’s members, who look straight out of a teen movie, aim directly at the hearts of the Gen Z audience. The clip portrays the members who plot revenge after eventually discovering the true identity of the boy with octopus legs whom they met at a Halloween party in a lovely and bubbly tone. Together with the video’s teenage rom-com plotline, ITZY’s new performance is to add a boost to the charm of the group that is fittingly called the “representative performers of K-pop.” The new performance of the group is well-structured with catchy choreographic highlights, inducing viewers to dance along with the members.
Meanwhile, ITZY will be revealing its performance for “Boys Like You” for the first time in its US tour, which is set to begin later in October. The set list comprising the group’s mega-hit tracks, from its hot debut track “DALLA DALLA” to “SNEAKERS,” in addition to the never-before-seen performance of its pre-release single, will present unforgettable memories for the local fans. The said US tour will kick off on October 26 (KST hereafter) in Los Angeles, United States, to be followed by Phoenix on 29th, Dallas on November 1st, Sugar Land on 3rd, Atlanta on 5th, Chicago on 7th, Boston on 10th, and New York on 13th, totaling up to 8 cities as a part of “ITZY THE 1ST WORLD TOUR < CHECKMATE > .” All seats were sold out for every date as soon as the ticket sales commenced.
This year in July, ITZY has renewed its own record with its fifth EP “CHECKMATE” and its title track “SNEAKERS” as it appeared at No. 8 on Billboard 200, the magazine's main chart, and No. 10 on Artist 100, the chart that ranks artists by tallying their overall performances. Over 720,665 pre-orders were made for the album and 472,394 copies were sold on the album’s first week of sales based on Hanteo Chart, a website that tracks album performances. On August 31, the album sold over one million copies based on Circle Chart’s shipment figure, being officially certified as a million-seller and marking a milestone for the quintet’s new career high.
ITZY, also called “K-pop’s hottest girl group,” is expected to take this momentum in
